Ginza Koyama daily journal 2022.11.15 Process meeting

We build an average of five nursing homes each year.

At the construction site, a weekly process meeting is held with the construction site manager and the designer.

In the past, I used to travel around the country by taking Shinkansen (high-speed bullet-train) and airplanes, but now I’m joining by using Zoom from Ginza (a city in Japan).

Speaking of comfort, it’s easy, but it gets lonely when I am not able to have a friendly relationship with the staff on site.

There are many design offices that I have worked with many times, and each year I have them in charge of new facilities, but it is easy for both of us because the client understands our intentions.

Unusually, a design office and a general contractor came to Ginza to give an explanation.

When I wondered what was going on, I was told that due to the influence of the world situation, the procurement of the parts necessary for the construction was delayed, and because of that, the construction work might be delayed.

If the completion of construction is delayed even by one month, we will have to ask for administrative approval and bank financing to be changed in advance.

Review your admission schedule.

It will cause trouble for both the person who wants to enter the new facility as soon as possible and the family.

And the training plan for new graduates, who are scheduled to open on April 1 next year, will also change.

To be honest, the labor cost for that is heavy.

There will be no income for that period.

Funding plans need to be reviewed proactively, and explanations to financial institutions are also required.

The construction company may be able to prevent delays, but I decided to consult with the people concerned in advance, just in case.

The process of opening the facility itself is reviewed, modified, and the plan changed.

It’s the equivalent of changing tactics during combat.

I think that the ability as a manager is to create a work schedule without waste and follow it to direct and operate the whole.

To put it simply, they work in a well-organized manner.

No director orders steel frames or concrete after the civil engineering work is completed.

The materials for completion were ordered in advance so that they would be delivered to the construction site according to the process.

The craftsman’s commitment is also included in the process, so that labor costs are not wasted.

All work must proceed while considering the overall process, or the work will stop.

Some employees concentrate only on the documents on their desks and only give instructions for the next contact after they are finished.

People like this can’t be leaders.

Subordinates and teams do not know the upcoming work schedule, which is annoying.

There is a difference between the ability to concentrate on one person’s paperwork and the quality of a leader who can grasp the movement of the entire team and direct the whole team.

It’s the difference between a tennis player and an American football captain.

Her mother always worked hard to prepare delicious meals for her children, but she always came out with hot pots and platters first.

She was told to eat it quickly and while it was hot, but neither chopsticks nor spoons were on the table.

In a hurry, knives and forks come out later.

Even as a child, I always thought that the arrangements were bad.

He was a person who liked to work alone.

Now that I think about it, I should have prepared the table in advance as a child.

I think I was an inconsiderate family.

Only when there are subordinates who support the narrow-minded superiors with thoughtful support, will they become a good team for the first time.

There is no such thing as a perfect leader.

Of course, I don’t have any convenient subordinates.
