Weekend emails are piled high with reports of accidents, scandals, and coronavirus.
But sometimes, I get reports that I’m glad that I’m doing this job and being the chairman of the medical welfare.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been so happy and moved, so I’m posting this email.
It’s a pity that I can’t attach a picture of the children.
If you are interested, please join the facility as a volunteer.
It is a condition that you bring sweets that children will love.
Koyama G opened Japan’s first special nursing home with Lego Museum in Kawasaki City.
We are proud to be No. 1 as a nursing facility where we want to take children.
Next, we will expand this Lego classroom to nursery schools and after-school childcare.
“Today, I would like to report that the workshop by the University of Tokyo Lego club was successfully held.
There was only one participant today, but the participants had a great time.
For the participants, today was “the first day to touch Lego”.
I concentrated on making three works while receiving careful instruction from volunteers from the University of Tokyo Lego club.
Although it was their first experience, they willingly picked up Lego and enthusiastically created each piece while checking the creation procedure.
When they came to a point of where they didn’t understand, they asked the volunteers to teach them and made one after another.
This child usually doesn’t speak much, but after finishing, they said, “It was fun!”
They thanked the volunteers in a loud voice, saying, “Thank you very much.”
I was very happy to see that.
I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for giving me this opportunity.
After the workshop, we had a small tea party with the volunteers.
We listened to various stories, such as showing images of volunteers’ works and talking about the fun of Lego.
Re-learning the fun and depth of Lego, children can use it as an educational toy that is different from games and TV.
I would like to continue interacting with the children at Parkside and have fun with them.
If you will be able to come next month, October 23rd (Sunday), I will teach you how to make a sphere with Lego.
