Yesterday after a half century of history the Iwanami Hall closed.
The museum opened when Yasunari-kun[1] became a junior high school student.
From that time on, I used to go visit the hall.
On Sunday, I was walking around the second-hand bookstore district in Kanda.
Starting at the Kanda Sanseido bookstore, I went around Kanda to the west of the second-hand bookstore district.
At the storefront, I rummage through the 100-yen shelves and buy a few mystery and Sci-fi books from Sogensha publishing and Hasegawa publishing sci-fi.
While having coffee and curry at a coffee shop, I`ll check today’s shopping.
The used bookstore district ends at Iwanami Hall in the west.
From there, I took the subway home, and even though I seldom visit Iwanami Hall I stopped by.
There were political rallies and movie screenings.
The normal floor of the building was remodeled, so the ceiling was low and there were pillars that got in the way.
There were many times when I would just sit there and watch for 30 minutes.
To be honest, there weren’t many interesting movies.
However, I was a junior high school student who thought that I had to watch it.
It is inevitable that customers will stop coming to old movie theaters with bad amenities.
But the nostalgia remains.
It`s been here for a half a century, after all.
I feel the memories of my youth and the end of life.
On the last day, an old man like me must have rushed in.
I haven’t been there for over ten years.
I don’t usually go, but we don’t have the right to be disappointed when we visit the museum only after it has been closed.
It’s just a memory.
Shinjuku Milano Theater closed on December 31, 2014, and is currently being rebuilt, and will open as a cinema complex in April 2023.
I think Iwanami Hall will be an office building.
Some movie theaters are disappearing, but on July 29, a new cinema complex opened in Chichibu City.
The ups and downs are unavoidable.
Anyway, I just pray for prosperity.
