Ginza Koyama Daily Journal 2022.06.23 Election Street speech begins

The elections for the House of Councilors have begun.

There is a candidate who raises starts their street speech the first day in Ginza.

I went to listen with a new graduate Ginza employee.

This is a social study.

What are the issues this year? Defense, finances and/or employment?

Without financial resources, there is no social security budget.

It is natural that economic revival is prioritized after the last 30 years.

But today’s young people are quiet.

Even the noisy elderly’s voice has become quieter, perhaps due to social distance due to Corona?

I, myself no longer attend meetings, so it feels like I’m retired.

As we get older, we become less interested in society.

I spend more time in the day resting due to my health and personal matters.

I watch TV and the internet all day long, which I used to hate.

My father was always watching TV in the hospital room.

Did I have a year like that?

My current involvement in society is to give more melons to a nursery center in Koyama.

The annual melons from Tottori (a Japanese prefecture) have arrived all over the country.

We in the Ginza office also divide it between us and had a tasting.

A quality that can fully satisfy the kindergarteners.

Is the elderly more concerned about this year’s melon rather than the election?

I was more interested in the young part-timer handing out the election leaflets than the election candidates.

Have you received a pamphlet?

I also had an experience like this when I was in my twenties.

Those who took a leaflet from me on a rainy day, looked like a God to me.

If you don’t distribute all the pamphlets, you can’t go home.

Due to a board meeting I was able to return halfway through.

Elections are a real festival of our time.

But this year’s election world is strangely quiet.

Or maybe I’m just getting less interested in politics.
